Ladies of Simone – Four singers and actors pay tribute to the great Nina Simone, interpreting standards from the Empress of Soul’s legendary songbook. Each of the four vocalists performs tunes that correspond to a specific period in Simone’s life. Sarah Gracel, Ja’Nia Harden, Toddra Brunson and Deana Butler-Rahming offer a rich theatrical performance that gets audiences on their feet, cheering for more.
The Ladies: Sarah Gracel is a past Carbonell Award winner for her role as Effie White in Broward Stage Door’s production of Dreamgirls. Ja’Nia Harden is the cofounder and member of The Harden Project, a South Florida band that blends Jazz Fusion, Funk, Soul, and other genres. Toddra Brunson has starred in many musicals and is a sought-after fashion model. Deana Butler-Rahming has been recognized by the Miami-Dade Gospel Alliance of Music Professionals as a Legend in South Florida gospel scene.
